Put two groups together

Adding means putting two groups together to find how many in all.

Learn it

  1. Two groups

    There are 3 red dots and 2 blue dots.

  2. Put them together

    Count them all: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The plus sign + means put together.

  3. Write it

    3 + 2 = 5. Say it: three plus two equals five.

  1. 4 + 3 = ?

    Start at 4 and count on 3: 5, 6, 7. In all there are 7.

    Answer: 7
  2. 6 + 2 = ?

    Start at 6 and count on 2: 7, 8.

    Answer: 8
