Task 0 Meanie Genie: You have found a magic lamp and you rub it and the grumpy genie comes out and angrily asks for your wishes... but he is only giving you 1. He is all sore and tired of being in the Lamp...
So you wish for an amazing diamond... and POOF 9 identical looking black stones appear in front of you along with a two balance scales.

Genie: The diamond you ask for will bring you riches... but you only have to chances to find it... otherwise you will only have a black rock!!! The stone with the diamond in it is "slightly heavier" than the rest. You can't tell with your hands so you must use the balance scales to find out.  As soon as you use the balance scale one it will disappear... basically you only can weight two times and boom... you must know which stone is the diamond. Good Luck :)

Smith: Ok... so yo have these nine stones and only two chances to weigh them. How can you know without a doubt that you have the stone with the diamond in it. You can put as many stones as you like on the scales... Can you figure this one out???

Lesson 1.0: Description
It would be great if you could look through this whole document. But this is probably not going to happen. Thus please just take a quick look at the sections mentioned on the left. These should not be too terribly troubling and if they are we have some time to really solidify them before we start class in earnest. There will be a small quiz of 15 questions (simple questions) on the material from the sections labeled. Please make sure to look over them before we come to school on the 19th.

15 questions... 5 sections... 3 from each section... HINT HINT.
